How to apply for a place?

What is the security deposit?

This is a deposit that has to be paid once confirmed your application request and is returned two months after abandoning the residence(only when completed your full accommodation commitment). Any unpaid bills or room damage will also be discounted from this deposit.

If my security deposit is returned at the end of my stay, do I not have to pay my last bill?

This is a security deposit and cannot be used for the last, or any other, monthly bill payment.

What happens to my security deposit if I leave the Residence Hall before the date which I committed to when I applied?

If this is the case, you will lose the security deposit.
Only in the event of the Administration of the Residence considering the cause to be force majeure will the deposit be refunded.

How are the monthly payments made?

The monthly payments for accommodation, meals and other contracted services, will be made between the 1st and 5th of each month by direct debit using the bank account details provided on the application form.

How do I make the payments to confirm my place?

If you are accepted into the Residence Hall you must make the payment of the security deposit and also an amount towards the last monthly payment, by bank transfer or by deposit, to the bank account of the Residence Hall.

Is billing calculated by days or by months?

The billing and its payment for all residents staying for semesters, the full year or renewals, will always be made for full months. The bill will only be calculated by days at the beginning or the end of the year or semester, in accordance with the period of renewal/admission solicited.

If, during the academic year, you decide to leave the Halls of Residence, thus failing to complete your requested accommodation term, you will be billed for the whole month regardless of your leaving date.

Are there fixed hours for entering and leaving?

The Residence Hall is open 24 hours a day meaning that there are no limits for entering or leaving the building. After midnight (00:00h.) the main doors are closed and the concierge will only open the doors and attend to residents at this time.

What do I need to bring to begin to live at the Residence?

As well as your personal effects and study material, you must bring bedclothes for a 90×200 cm bed, quilt, towels, coat hangers, lamp, iron and cleaning utensils.

Can I hang pictures or posters in my room?

The hanging of posters or pictures on the walls or cupboards of the room is prohibited.

Can I smoke inside the Residence Hall?

Smoking inside the building is not permitted by the law 28/2005, of the 26th of December.

Can family members or friends sleep in my room?

No. The rooms are destined exclusively for those persons who have followed the admissions and renovations process.

For friends and family members, a short stay room can be reserved. Consult availability and prices.

Does hazing/ragging exist?

No. These acts are prohibited by law and by the rules of the Residence Hall. Hazing/ragging can be an expellable offence.

Can we keep pets in the room?

No. The Residence Hall does not accept animals in the building. The exception to this rule being a blind resident needing the help of a guide dog.

Can I take out of the room furniture that I do not need?

No. Neither can you move furniture from the common areas or take it to your room.

Does the Residence Hall close during non-term time such as Christmas, Easter or in the Summer?

Closure can occur at times, which would be communicated accordingly.
